The Treat and Reduce Obesity Act (TROA)
Support continues to grow for S 830/HR 1953, the Treat and Reduce Obesity Act (TROA) of 2017, which has been introduced by Senators Bill Cassidy (R-LA) and Tom Carper (D-DE) and Representatives Erik Paulsen (R-MN) and Ron Kind (DWI), respectively. The bill, which has the bipartisan support of over 100 House and Senate cosponsors, aims to effectively treat and reduce obesity in older Americans by enhancing Medicare beneficiaries’ access to healthcare providers that are best suited to provide intensive behavioral therapy (IBT) and by allowing Medicare Part D to cover FDA-approved obesity drugs.
